Buying this unit brand new from the dealership adds an unnecessary sting to the rebuild bill. We provide a genuine, salvaged alternative that does the exact same job for a fair price.

This is a genuine BMW lower timing chain cover and rear main seal housing, pulled directly from a running donor B47 engine. It is supplied exactly as pictured as a bare cast aluminium housing with the original crank seal still seated in the centre.

Before this cover hits the shelf, it gets a proper visual check on our Coventry workbench. We inspect the flat mating surfaces to ensure there is no warping or deep scoring that could cause an oil leak, and we check the bolt holes for stripped threads. It’s a solid, heavy-duty casing ready to bolt up to your block.

Workshop Note: while the original rear main seal is included in the housing, we always strongly advise mechanics to press in a brand new genuine seal before bolting this to the block to guarantee a perfect, leak free build.
